We strongly encourage our partners to actively promote Petco Love Lost whenever possible. Our aim is to inform and educate your community about the availability of our image recognition technology, empowering them to easily reunite lost pets or report found animals.
To facilitate your sharing efforts, we offer a range of sharing tools through your Petco Love Lost Toolkit. Below, you'll find a list of sharing tips and a direct link to access your Toolkit.
1. Announce Your Partnership with Petco Love Lost.
- Send an email to your full email list of past adopters, reclaimed animals etc. sharing the new exciting tool – use email banners within your toolkit – encourage all pet owners to register their pets now.
- Include an announcement in your monthly newsletter about Petco Love Lost, your partnership and how it will help your community.
- Announce your new partnership across all social channels – Use the posts provided within your Petco Love Lost Toolkit (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) and don’t forget to tag @PetcoLoveLost and use the #PetcoLovePartner hashtag.
2. Include Petco Love Lost in every monthly newsletter for your organization.
- Don’t stop with just a single announcement, remind your community that if they haven’t registered yet, they should create a Petco Love Lost account. They can add ALL of their owned pets. This tool can be used if THEY find a stray too.
- Include any reunions associated with Petco Love Lost (make sure to have owner permission) Don’t forget to share these reunions on social too!
3. Send follow up email to adopters/reclaimers.
- At time of adoption/reclaim, if you already send a follow up email – include a quick mention of Petco Love Lost, what the tool is & why they should register now.
4. Set up posters in high traffic areas at your facility.
- Within your toolkit, we provide printable posters. If you would like us to send pre-printed posters, just reach out and we will see what we can do!
5. Integrate Petco Love Lost on your organization’s website.
- List petcolovelost.org on your website
- Use the free website banners & buttons provided in your toolkit
- If you don't have a lost/found resource section on your site - add one! You never know who may look to you for guidance.
6. Use the power of social media – SHARE SHARE SHARE!
- Share reunion stories – photos, details of the story and happy endings!
- Post on all social channels you have.
- Be sure to tag @PetcoLoveLost and use the #PetcoLovePartner hashtag on all relevant posts. -- reunion stories, missing pets, found pets, etc. The Petco Love Lost social channels are also filled with posts that you can share with your followers.
7. Share Petco Love Lost print outs/fliers.
- Place in adoption packets
- Have in the front desk area/lobby
- Take to adoption events
8. Talk! – Be excited, educate your staff, get them excited – tell everyone to use this lifesaving tool that will help get more pets home!
- When to talk - at time of adoption, time of reclaim, all adoption events, when someone calls to report their missing pet.
- “Have you heard about Petco Love Lost? Be sure to register your pet as soon as you get home. That way if they were to ever go missing, all you need to do is log in and click “lost”. It is simple and free!
- "Thank you for calling to report your missing pet, please complete a lost report at lost.petcolove.org to search a national database for your pet."
